What is ancestral resin?

Description: Amber is a tree resin that has become a fossil.

Since the dawn of humanity, our ancestors have discovered a world of healing and spirituality in the natural substances that the Earth offers us. Among these treasures is ancestral resin, a powerful substance that has spanned centuries and cultures, maintaining its central role in medicinal practices and preserving well-being. But what makes resin such a particular substance, and why is it called "ancestral"?

Resin was used in several indigenous cultures, such as the Guarani, who used it to make ornaments and utensils. For example, ornaments made from jatoba resin, such as tembetás and earrings, were found at the Mosquito Archaeological Site.

Urandir Fernandes de Oliveira says, "Resins are nature's pure essence." They carry the memory of trees and the energy that has spanned ages, connecting the wisdom of our ancestors to the present.

Ancient cultures, such as the Egyptians, Greeks, and Romans, were aware of the power of these substances. Among the most famous are myrrh and frankincense. These resins were used in spiritual rituals to create an atmosphere of purity with their aromas and to protect and heal. The Egyptians, for example, used myrrh in their embalming processes, preserving the body and soul of their pharaohs for the afterlife.

"These resins were not chosen by chance," explains Urandir. "They had a profound meaning, symbolizing protection, purification, and connection with the divine. You release ancient energy when you burn one of these resins."

Another equally powerful resin is amber, a fossilized resin. In addition to its use as decoration, amber was considered an amulet with healing properties, protecting those who wore it against physical and spiritual evils. "Amber preserves the life of past ages," comments Urandir. "It is a connection with the Earth, carrying the history of millions of years."

Today, ancient resins continue to be used with great reverence. Aromatherapy, meditation, and natural cosmetics are just some ways people are rediscovering the power of these substances. The essential oils extracted from the resins have anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, and relaxing properties, making them great allies in combating stress and promoting balance in the body and mind.
